Appointment Checklist
-
I will schedule an estimated time when I reach out to your clinic regarding scheduling. The day of the appointment, I will call to give an ETA with a 30-60 minute lead time, depending on traffic.
In general, I think it is best to have patients dropped off for their ultrasound appointments. That way they are in the clinic and ready when I arrive.
-
Yes we do!!
I will require one assistant or technician for patient restraint. And I will need to use an examination table or x-ray table while I am there. I will need to be in a room that I can dim or turn off the lights.
If the pet is aggressive, or unlikely to tolerate an ultrasound examination, then sedation may be required to make this experience smoother for the patient. However, depending on the ultrasound examination being performed, some patients may not be able to receive all types of sedatives. Please reach out via direct messaging on the YourViewDr platform if you have any questions regarding sedation protocols for your patients. Sedation and recent bloodwork will be needed for FNAs.
-
Abdominal ultrasound patients need to be fasted for 12 hours prior to examination. Echocardiograms do not require fasting, however you can use your standard clinic protocol for potential sedation.
Patients should be shaved prior to my arrival to allow for a smoother appointment process. For abdominal ultrasounds, please shave patients as if for an exploratory laparotomy, with wide margins over the lateral caudal ribs.
For echocardiograms, patients will need to be shaved in three locations: the subxiphoid area, and both ventrolateral axillary regions. A square of about 2 inches x 2 inches should be sufficient in each location.
For special soft tissue examinations, I can shave these patients after my arrival, once sedation has been administered.

In general, once I leave your clinic, the report will be available in about 24 hours. Final reports will be sent to the email address you provided when you created your clinic account on YourViewDr.com
If you need your report sooner than this, you can elect to choose a STAT report for an additional fee.
-
If you have follow-up questions regarding the case, you will be able to reach out directly to the specialist that provided the final report. Their contact information will be provided on the report.
